Anton Hernandez is an 8 year old 2nd grader at Wood Elementary in Arlington, Texas.  Anton began racing in 2005 in a caged kart that his father built for him.  In his first season, this 2005 Cowtown Rookie of the Year and 3HP Beginner Track Champion, won 10 poles, 13 Features, 9 2nds, two 3rds, a 4th, 5th, 7th and an 8th – what a season!  Anton has also raced successfully at KAM Kartway where he has visited the podium each time he has raced.

Some of Anton’s favorite racing moments include his February 2006 invitation to compete in the 1st Annual Invitational North Texas Go-Kart Championships in the Young Guns Class at the 27th Annual World of Wheels in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Even though he was underpowered and overweigh, he finished in 2nd place.  Anton also got to meet Buddy Rice and Danica Patrick at Texas Motor Speedway in 2005.  At that time he was chasing the points leader and Buddy told him, “Don’t ever give up, keep working and working and you’ll catch up,” which he did!  Great job hanging in and staying focused Anton!

Anton enjoys racing with, and learning from, his peers.  He also likes to help new, young drivers who are coming up behind him by sharing driving tips and experiences.  His parents are very  proud of Anton’s desire to help other racers.

For the 2006 season, Anton continues to race his homebuilt kart in the 3HP Beginners Advanced Class.  In preparation for the 2007 season, Anton’s dedicated dad, David, is designing and building a chome-moly, fully suspension chassis so they are ready to move to the 5HP Pure Stock class.  Someday, Anton wants to race sprint cars – we know he’ll be a strong competitor whatever he does.
